Why This Resume Works

This resume scores well with ATS systems and hiring managers because it follows three principles:

1
Every bullet has a number

CAC, MQLs, conversion rates, pipeline value, traffic growth. Marketing is a measurable function, and this resume proves it.

2
Channel and tool specificity

Exact platforms, ad networks, and analytics tools are named. ATS systems scan for these terms directly.

3
Clean, single-column format

Standard section headings that ATS parsers handle reliably. No sidebars, icons, or infographic elements.

Section-by-Section Breakdown

Summary

Lead with years of experience and the specific marketing function you own (demand gen, content, growth, brand). Name your biggest result upfront - traffic growth, pipeline generated, or cost efficiency. Include the type of company you work best in (B2B SaaS, e-commerce, enterprise). Keep it to 2-3 sentences.

Skills

Group skills by category: Channels, Analytics, Tools, and Competencies. This lets recruiters scan quickly and ensures ATS keyword coverage across the full marketing stack. List platforms you use regularly - not everything you touched once in a side project.

Tip: Check the job description carefully. If they say "demand generation" and "marketing automation," use those exact phrases. Generic terms like "digital marketing" are not enough on their own.

Experience

Use this formula for every bullet point:

[Action verb] + [what you did] + [channel or tool] + [measurable result]

Strong opening verbs for marketing: Scaled, Launched, Managed, Built, Generated, Grew, Reduced, Improved, Partnered, Redesigned. Avoid "Responsible for" - it describes a job, not an achievement.

Prioritize metrics that map to revenue: MQLs, SQLs, CAC, pipeline value, conversion rates, and cost per lead. Traffic and engagement metrics are secondary unless they connect to a business outcome.

Education

For marketers with 3+ years of experience, education goes last and stays brief: degree, school, year. Certifications (Google Ads, HubSpot, Meta Blueprint) can be added as a separate line if they are current and relevant to the role.

Common Mistakes on Marketing Manager Resumes

  • Listing channels without results - "Managed Google Ads and LinkedIn campaigns" says nothing. Add what you spent, what it cost per lead, and what it produced in pipeline or revenue.
  • Not quantifying ROI - marketing exists to drive business outcomes. If your campaigns generated pipeline, say how much. If you reduced CAC, give the number and the benchmark.
  • Overloading with buzzwords - "growth hacking," "synergistic content strategies," and "omnichannel storytelling" waste space. Recruiters skim for platforms, metrics, and results.
  • Forgetting attribution methodology - senior marketing roles care about how you measure impact. Mentioning HubSpot attribution models, UTM tracking, or multi-touch attribution signals analytical maturity.
  • Two+ pages for under 10 years of experience - keep it to one page. Cut older or lower-impact bullets before adding new ones.
